
Martha Vourtsi
Martha Vourtsis (Athens, 12 October 1937) is a Greek actress. Her mother was a painter and her father Michalis Vourtsis a conductor, one of the founders of the Opera in 1942. Her family settled from Odessa in Athens. She herself received a strict Russian upbringing. She appeared in several films, mainly performing dramatic roles in the so-called "melo" of the era, (She Who Did Not Bend, Great is the Grief, Outcasts of Society, My Heart Stops Paining, With Pain and Tears), but also in films of different genres, such as The Yellow Gloves and The Tough Man. Several years later, she made some appearances on television, such as in the state television series Odos Antheon (1987-1988), in the Mega Channel comedy series Eliza and the Others, as well as in the Mega Channel series Seven Deadly Mother-in-Laws. She had a leading role in the Mega Channel series 1 meios e otso, where she played the mother of Anna (Zeta Douka). As in 2008-2011, she played in the series I polikatoikia, as Panagiota Petrocheilou. In the 2004 theatrical winter, she appeared at the Veaki Theater in the performance Ta brembere petheanou orthia. The reviews were very good. She also appeared at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in July 2005 and in June 2006 in William Shakespeare's tragedy Coriolanus as part of the Athens Festival. She was married to the lyricist Xenophon Fileris who passed away in 2014.
